НАЙТИ ЕЩЕBased on the famous series of dialogues between Francois Truffaut and Alfred Hitchcock from the 1960s, the book moves chronologically through Hitchcock's films to discuss his career, techniques, and effects he achieved. It changed the way Hitchcock was perceived, as a popular director of suspense films - such as Psycho and The Birds - and revealed to moviegoers and critics, the depth of Hitchcock's perception and his mastery of the art form. As a result of the changed perceptions about Hitchcock, his masterpiece, Vertigo, hit the No 1 slot in Sight & Sound's recent poll of film-makers and critics, displacing Citizen Kane as the Best Film of all time.

НАЙТИ ЕЩЕ"All my films turn upon this idea-there is an effort to show a world without love, characters full of selfishness, people exploiting one another, and, in the midst of it all, there is always-and especially in the films with Giulietta-a little creature who wants to give love and who lives for love." -Federico Fellini Forever a circus ringleader at heart, Federico Fellini (1920-1993) is remembered as one of cinema's greatest storytellers. From bittersweet, heart-wrenching tales (La Strada and Nights of Cabiria) to semi-autobiographical classics (La Dolce Vita and the much-imitated 8 1/2) to ambitious period-pieces (Satyricon and Casanova) to dreamlike pseudo-documentaries (The Clowns, Roma, and Intervista), Fellini brought his inner world to the silver screen in a profoundly original and innovative way. Among his many gifts to the world of cinema are the roles he created for his wife, the unforgettable Giulietta Masina.

НАЙТИ ЕЩЕBased on a real-life love triangle and later made into Francois Truffaut's famous New Wave film, Henri-Pierre Roche's Jules et Jim is a paean to youth set in free-spirited Paris before the First World War. Jules and Jim live a carefree, bohemian existence: they write in cafes, travel when the mood takes them, and share the women they love without jealousy. Like Lucie, flawless, an abbess, and Odile, impulsive, mischievous, almost feral. But it is Kate - with a smile the two friends have determined to follow always, but capricious enough to jump in the Seine from spite - who steals their hearts most thoroughly. Henri-Pierre Roche was in his mid-seventies when he wrote this, his autobiographical debut novel. The inspiration for the legendary film directed by Francois Truffaut, it captures perfectly with excitement and great humour the tenderness of three people in love with each other and with life. This Penguin Modern Classics edition is translated by Patrick Evans with an introduction by Agnes C. Poirier and an afterword by Francois Truffaut. Henri-Pierre Roche (1879-1959) was born in Paris. After studying art at the Academie Julian, he became a journalist and art dealer, mixing with the avant-garde artistic set; his friends and acquaintances included the artists Michel Duchamp and Francis Picabia, and in 1905 he introduced Gertrude Stein to Pablo Picasso. In 1916, following his discharge from the French army, Roche went to New York and set up a Dadaist magazine, The Blind Man, with Duchamp and the artist Beatrice Wood. It wasn't until his seventies that he wrote the semi-autobiographical Jules et Jim (1953); his second novel, Les deux anglaises et le continent, was published in 1956.

НАЙТИ ЕЩЕThe incomparable career of a cinematic genius. One of the most esteemed filmmakers of all time, Stanley Kubrick was also one of the most enigmatic. He broke into the film scene at the age of 26 with the ambitious, independently produced Killer's Kiss and within a few years was working with the likes of Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier, and Peter Sellers on such seminal films as Lolita and Spartacus. Having gained the support of the actors, producers, and movie studios with his early efforts, Kubrick garnered the creative control he needed to produce uncompromising masterpieces such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, and Barry Lyndon. Polishing off 1999's Eyes Wide Shut just before his untimely death, Kubrick left behind a puzzling and positively brilliant body of work. Издание на английском языке.
